Dalhousie hill station is one of the most visited hill stations of India. Named after the British Governor-General Lord Dalhousie, this pristine hill station of Himachal Pradesh was established by Lord Dalhousie as a place of summer retreat for the British. Set at an elevation of 1970 meters above the sea level in the lap of the Western Himalayan ranges, this hill station retains its popularity since its inception in the year 1854 by the British Lord Dalhousie. Lush green forest trails overlook the panorama of wooded hills, springs, and waterfalls. Colonial architecture, beautiful churches are found in every nook and corner of this hill station. Enticed by the charming beauty of Dalhousie, famous freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose stayed here for several months in 1937. How To Reach:

  • By air: Being a small hill station, Dalhousie does not have any air terminal of its own. Guggul Airport located in Kangra and Pathankot airport serves as the popular air terminals to reach Dalhousie.   • By rail: Pathankot railway station is the closest railway destination of Dalhousie. Situated almost at a distance of 80 km from Dalhousie, this train station near Dalhousie shares a direct connection with almost all major Indian cities including Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, Bathinda and Jammu etc. Express, superfast and mail train service to and from Pathankot. It takes almost 3 hours to reach Dalhousie from the railway station. You can even opt to take a train to Delhi and board on an overnight bus or train journey to reach this hill station.
  • By road: Dalhousie experiences amazing road connectivity to its surrounding cities. It is a journey of almost 11 hours to reach Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh from the capital of the nation via NH 1. Several private cabs, taxis, deluxe and luxury bus services are available from the nearby cities to Dalhousie. Apart from this Haryana Road Transport Corporation and Himachal Road Transport Corporation-run regular bus. It is the cheapest way to reach Dalhousie.

What To See :

  • Khajjiar: Set amidst the lush greenery of Pine and deodar in the backdrop of white Western Himalayan ranges, Khajjiar mesmerises its visitors with its unique combination of pasture, forest and lake. Nestled in the lap Dhauladhar ranges, Khajjiar is crowned as " Mini Switzerland of India ". Here you can enjoy several thrilling games including zorbing, paragliding, horse riding etc. In Khaji Naga temple, built in the 12th century the battle of Mahabharat is depicted.

  • Sach pass: Nestled at an altitude of 14500 feet, Sach pass interconnects Chamba with Pangi tribal valley. Surrounded by the amazing landscape, this is a must-visit for trekkers fond of adventures and challenges. Snow-covered peaks, dense woods, vivid greenery on the way take you to the most enthralling and remotest Valley namely Pangi.

  • Satdhara Falls: Satdhara, as the name suggests, is the home of seven beautiful falls that meet together at a height of 2036 metres above the sea level and create a magnificent vista. The crystal clear water of this falls along with its surrounding tranquil nature, the ice-capped Himalayas, pine, cedar and deodar trees create a magical beauty. Popularly known as, "Gandhak" among the natives of Dalhousie water of these falls enriched with mica and can cure several skin diseases.
